1/14/09 - 10 miles

I enjoyed an easy 10 miles run tonight at the gym. The time went by quickly as I was able to watch some of the Lakers/Spurs game. The heartrate monitor on my treadmill didn't work again (very frustrating) but I felt like my pace was appropriate for the distance and the type of workout. I ran the 10 miles in 1:25:40 which is an 8:34 pace. No problems and I felt strong throughout the run.

I checked out the Pete Pfitzinger marathon training plan. It is harder than the one I will be doing. I really do like it mainly because you are putting in more miles when you run. I seem to like to run no less than 6 miles/ day so this week so far has been kind of hard going 3/5/3/5. But tommorow I will run my first long run at 10 miles. I have to be really careful now on the tempo runs because of the recent stess fracture. But I am bound and determined to make the most out of it. By the way, I am looking into buying a sports watch to time my splits. During the last marathon, I ran with my sister- in -law who timed our first 7 miles until we got split up. I realized how important it was. Recently I have been looking into the Timex Iron man vs the Nike. What is your thoughts on that.

Sorry for the grammatical errors on the last comment, I should have read over it first. I had one more question regarding the watch. Do you know if there is a watch that puts in a 30 lap split as well as one that keeps track of your miles run, calories burned, and heart rate?

I haven't done very much research into the different sports watches. My wife bought me a Garmin 301 right after I started running and it has been great. It will probably do more than I know in the way of splits and analysis but to be honest, I haven't put that much time into learning all the options.
